What does a certain Italian Mathematician have to do with the O’k Year of Rabbit and these Rabbit Holiday adventures?

Answer: In the 2011 Year of Rabbit calendar!

Taking orders now:
It’s December 23rd, and we’re waiting to see if my daugher Allison can make the 3-hour drive up to our Snowland home-place for a little family time. This morning, I’m trying ever so hard to gather in my travelin’ heart-wanderin’ energy and be present in our little kitchen. So I tuck
in a good music cd and put my apron on.
Fortunately I find the HEM cd, their musical debut called “Rabbit Songs” I especially like “Half Acre” (where they mention Michigan) and “Idle” (which is the cover song, and inspired the title of the cd).
Inspired by the great music I’m listening to, I re-work a traditional Russian Tea Ball (or Snowball) cookie recipe shared with me by Kriya, into a new recipe that I’ll re-name, in honor of the up-coming Year of Rabbit:
Chocolate Fruit and Nut Rabbit Balls (yes, this makes me laugh)

1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup coconut oil
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup cocoa
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. vanilla
2 c sifted flour
1 c chopped nuts
1 c dried cranberries
1 c dried blueberries

1/2 c powdered sugar

Mix all ingredients except for powdered sugar. Roll dough into 1 inch balls, or smaller to
better resemble Rabbit Balls and/or droppings. Bake at 375 degrees for 12-15 minutes
Roll the cooled Rabbit Balls in powdered sugar. Enjoy and share with friends and relatives!
It’s almost the Happy New Year of the Rabbit!
